Tungsten carbide is an alloy material made from a hard compound of a refractory metal and a binder metal by a powder metallurgy process. Tungsten carbide has a series of excellent properties such as high hardness, wear resistance, strength and toughness, heat resistance and corrosion resistance, especially its high hardness and wear resistance, which remains basically unchanged even at a temperature of 500 ° C. It still has a high hardness at 1000 °C. Carbide is widely used as a tool material, such as turning tools, milling cutters, planers, drills, boring tools, etc., for cutting cast iron, non-ferrous metals, plastics, chemical fiber, graphite, glass, stone and ordinary steel, can also be used for cutting Hard-to-machine materials such as heat-resistant steel, stainless steel, high manganese steel, and tool steel.
Performance characteristics:
High hardness (86 ~ 93HRA, equivalent to 69 ~ 81HRC);
Good heat hardness (up to 900~1000 °C, keep 60HRC);
Good wear resistance
Carbide tools have a cutting speed 4 to 7 times higher than high speed steel and 5 to 80 times higher tool life. Manufacturing molds and measuring tools, the life is 20 to 150 times higher than that of alloy tool steel. It can cut hard materials around 50HRC.
However, the hard alloy is brittle and cannot be cut. It is difficult to form a whole-tool with a complicated shape. Therefore, it is often made into blades of different shapes, and is mounted on the cutter body or the mold body by welding, bonding, mechanical clamping, or the like. .
use:
Tungsten carbide is known as "industrial teeth" because of its high hardness, strength, wear resistance and corrosion resistance. Used in the manufacture of cutting tools, cutting tools, mining tools and wear parts, widely used in military, aerospace, mechanical processing, metallurgy, oil drilling, mining tools, electronic communications, construction and other fields, with the development of downstream industries, hard The market demand for quality alloys continues to increase.
Cemented carbide can also be used to make rock drilling tools, mining tools, drilling tools, measuring gages, wear parts, metal grinding tools, cylinder liners, precision bearings, nozzles, metal molds (such as wire drawing dies, bolt dies, nut dies, and Various fastener molds, the excellent properties of cemented carbide gradually replaced the previous steel mold). Coated cemented carbide has also been available for nearly two decades. In 1969, Sweden successfully developed a titanium carbide coated tool. The base of the tool is tungsten-titanium cobalt hard alloy or tungsten-cobalt hard alloy. The thickness of the surface titanium carbide coating is only a few microns, but compared with the same grade alloy tool. The service life is extended by 3 times and the cutting speed is increased by 25% to 50%. The fourth generation of coating tools appeared in the 1970s for cutting difficult materials.
Material classification:
1. Tungsten-cobalt hard alloy
The main components are tungsten carbide alloy (WC) and binder cobalt (Co).
Its grade is composed of "YG" ("hard, cobalt" Chinese pinyin prefix) and the average percentage of cobalt content. For example, YG8 means an average WCo=8%, and the balance is a tungsten-cobalt-based cemented carbide of a tungsten carbide alloy. Generally, tungsten-cobalt alloys are mainly used in: carbide tools, tungsten carbide balls, molds, and geology and mineral products.
2. Tungsten-titanium-cobalt hard alloy
The main components are tungsten carbide alloy, titanium carbide (TiC) and cobalt.
Its grade consists of "YT" ("hard, titanium" Chinese pinyin prefix) and the average content of titanium carbide. For example, YT15 represents an average TiC of 15%, and the balance is a tungsten-titanium-cobalt-based cemented carbide having a tungsten carbide alloy and a cobalt content. Among them, cemented carbide indexable inserts have higher performance requirements. Therefore, tungsten-titanium-cobalt-based hard alloys are commonly used.
3, tungsten-titanium tantalum (niobium) type hard alloy
